Stardust Big Band featuring The Spallettes
Sunday 24th May

Sunday 24th May  2.00  6.00

Stardust Big Band

They started rehearsing in Harefield, North West London every Sunday evening in mid-2008. Several of the musicians in the current band have been playing together since their school days in the late 1980s/early 90s.

The band today is a mixture of ages and musical backgrounds but they all share a passion for jazz and a love of playing together, with music ranging from early swing to easy listening and modern big band, and spanning the 1920s to the present day.

Stardust Big Band play a number of gigs through the year, usually in the North West London area, but are extremely excited to be performing in Woodbridge on the stage of the Riverside Theatre.

The Spallettes

Helen, Amy and Katy Spall grew up in Woodbridge and all attended Farlingaye High School before going off to study and work in various parts of the country.

Their dad, Don Spall, was a very well-known figure around Woodbridge and Co-founded the Amateur Dramatics group ‘Company of Four’ with which their mum Lyn also performed. The Company of Four have been performing at The Riverside Theatre for over 50 years. Don also worked at The Riverside from 1953 well into the 1980’s as their projectionist and eventually Manager.

Having grown up performing with the Company of Four, the Spall Sisters are no strangers to the stage here at The Riverside and have all since left Woodbridge to pursue careers in Theatre. Helen and Amy both work in Stage Management on Tour and in London, and Katy is now working as Head of Wardrobe.

They love singing together and join with Stardust Big Band as a trio whenever they can all be in the same City at the same time!

They are all very excited to be back in the town they grew up in and in the Theatre that they call their second home.
