Missing/Removed Romeo & Juliet Signed Programme

We are sad to report that a personally signed programme from our foyer display of Matthew Bourne's Romeo and Juliet was removed straight after the 2nd performance on Tuesday 22nd October.

The items on display (costumes and programmes) were on loan to us by both Matthew Bourne's company New Adventures and also Katy Spall who worked in wardrobe on the UK production.

We would politely ask the person who removed the item kindly return it to us (annonymously if you wish) as it is irriplaceable.

Thank you

A Little Piece of History

Jane Ager visited The Riverside today (22nd July) for lunch and took a number of photos inside and around the cinema. Jane is the great-granddaughter of David Ager who built the cinema in 1915 (then called The Electric Cinema) and was it's very first owner!

Here is Jane pictured with our owner, Stuart Saunders, with Stu holding a photo of Jane's great-grandfather, David Ager.

Audio description service

Cinema audio description is a fantastic service for people with sight loss. The normal film soundtrack comes through the cinemas surround sound speakers in the usual way, whilst a recorded narrator explains what's happening on screen - in gaps in the dialogue - through personal headphones.

It's similar to listening to a cricket or football match on the radio - having the action described to you - but with added surround sound, which places you in the middle of the action. Most popular cinema releases are now available with audio description tracks.

Just ask for an A.D. headset at the box office. The audio description is broadcast through personal headphones - only the wearer hears it.
