Important Announcement

We understand that many of our customers will be concerned about their health, about future tickets already purchased, and about tickets they are about to buy. As a small business, with no state or external funding, we depend on people buying tickets to survive. Any period of enforced closure of either the theatre or our restaurant will hit us very hard, and we are making plans to ensure that we are as well prepared for this as possible. We also wish to reassure our customers that we take their health and enjoyment of The Riverside seriously. For all of these reasons we make these pledges for the duration of the Covid-19 situation:

* All tickets purchased will be honoured to the full face value, including booking fees, if you have to self-isolate. This means that we will transfer your tickets either to another performance of your choice with tickets of equivalent value or offer a credit note that can be used in the future.

* Should a performance be postponed due to the virus, we will offer the same guarantee as above, with tickets remaining valid for the new date or available for transfer to another performance if you are unavailable to make the new date

* If we have to cancel a performance we will contact all customers as soon as possible. Please do not message us via social media as these may get missed but contact us via As you can appreciate our box office staff are already inundated with queries during this difficult time.

* Unless otherwise directed by law, our performances will remain on as per our website and programme, and our restaurant will remain open. Our restaurant tables are well spaced, with outdoor seating also available,  so we believe that our restaurant will remain a safe place to visit during the outbreak. Our auditorium has 260 seats, therefore if you wish to watch a performance away from other guests then please use your own discretion in where you choose to sit. As you would expect we are not experiencing high volumes of customers for screenings so keeping a suitable distance between you and another customer should not be an issue.

* We ask all customers to follow NHS and Government advice when on our premises, especially with regard to coughing, sneezing and hand-washing, to keep other customers safe and reassured. Please dispose of all your used tissues responsibly.

* All of our public areas will be sanitised regularly during business hours

* Any of our staff displaying symptoms will be asked to stay at home

* This policy statement is constantly under review as the situation develops
