Eat Drink Man Woman

Film Feast is all about bringing communities together through a love of film, food and drink while at the same time celebrating the incredible array of local food and drink producers in our region. In the past our Film Feast Festival has showcased feature films, documentaries and short films from around the world all on the subject of food and drink with each evening ending with a meal replicated from one of the feature films screened earlier in the day. Whilst we have sadly been unable to host any Film Feast events in the last few years, in 2019 Film Feast took place at 16 venues across Suffolk and we also held our first event in London, following Film Feast’s launch in 2018 which took place in and around Woodbridge. The format is the idea of our Manager, Neil McGlone, and Film Feast patrons include British film director, Mike Leigh, TV personality and restaurateur, Ruth Watson, and Suffolk farmer and TV personality, Jimmy Doherty.

Ang Lee’s (The Wedding Banquet, Brokeback Mountain, Sense & Sensibility),  gently comic family fable about a semi-retired master chef and his three daughters, the director’s only film shot entirely in his native Taiwan, is arguably the best movie about how food can connect generations ever made. The cooking scenes, rapturously shot by cinematographer Jon Lin, capture the magic, majesty, and diversity of Taiwanese cuisine, but it’s the quiet, world weary performance by Sihung Lung as the elder chef that gives the film its heart and soul.

We are delighted that following the screening local renowned chef, Vernon Blackmore (The Table, The Anchor, Canteen) will be producing a menu inspired by dishes from the film in our restaurant and there will be a limited number of just 50 spaces available for you take up this offer of £50 for a three-course dinner which includes a film ticket.

Be quick as our last event for THE TASTE OF THINGS in May sold out quickly!
